Evia Collective Washing Instructions
-
To ensure your new Evia Nappies have the ideal level of absorbency it's best to soak your nappies overnight prior to use in cold water, followed by a pre-wash.
You can wash your nappies and use them without soaking but note that this may result in your nappy leaking as it would not have reached optimal absorbency.
Absorbency will increase over time with more washes.
-
Nappies with urine can be stored in a dry pail ready for washing.
For nappies with solids, discard any solids into the toilet and flush. Once removed, these nappies can be rinsed to help remove excess waste and stored in a dry pail ready for washing.
Evia Nappies recommends a prewash cycle using warm water (no more than 60 degrees) to help remove waste from nappies. Depending on how frequently you're changing nappies a prewash cycle may occur every 1-2 days.
If desired, you can add half the recommended amount of detergent listed on the pack to this prewash cycle.
Evia Nappies recommends a long or intensive cycle using warm water (no more than 60 degrees) and the recommended amount of detergent listed on the pack. It's best to wash nappies on a long cycle as it helps ensure the nappies are sufficiently cleaned.
It's best to line dry your nappies to prolong the longevity of your nappies. However you can also tumble dry your nappies on low heat.

Used nappies should be stored in a laundry basket with holes; this is known as dry-pailing. This method allows for ventilation, so the nappies don't develop mould or smells. For Evia Nappies, we recommend removing the insert from the pocket nappy then dry-pailing.
