AlvaBaby Washing Instructions
-
All new nappies should be washed at least once before first use.
Inserts made of natural fabrics (such as bamboo or hemp) require at least 3 washes to increase absorption. These fabrics reach maximum absorption with 8 washes.
Cotton and microfibre fabrics only need 1 wash before use.
-
Close any velcro hook and loop closures before washing to prevent damage.
PRE-WASH cold to remove waste and fight stains.
Wash in COLD water (less than 40°C).
Wash every other day.
When washing cloth nappies, always use a detergent free of perfumes, dyes, whiteners, brighteners, softeners, enzymes, or other fabric enhancers. Using too much detergent may cause cloth nappies to leak.
LINE DRY covers and shells.
Alva Baby recommend that you DRY your inserts in the dryer as often as you want to, and it will actually help keep them functioning perfectly.
-
Don’t use fabric softeners as it can reduce the absorbency of the fabric. Use white vinegar sparingly instead to soften fibres. Excessive use of vinegar can also damage the fabrics.
Don’t use bleach or abrasives to remove stains. Use of these products will VOID your WARRANTY. Sun exposure should be used instead.
Don’t iron your product.
-
Always use a paper or fabric nappy liner when using a barrier/nappy rash cream.
Once per month, use up to 1/4 cup oxygen bleach in the hot wash cycle to sanitize nappies and fight odors.
